Rush Hour

The red car has to escape the traffic jam: the benchmark all logic games are measured against.

How it plays

The challenge card shows the starting positions of the vehicles on the 6x6 grid. Cars and trucks move only forward and backward, never sideways. Goal: clear the red car's path to the exit. 40 challenges in four levels, from warm-up to genuine brain-bender.

What it trains

Rush Hour is the classic training device for sequential, forward-looking planning: several moves must be chained mentally, dead ends recognized, strategies revised. Research on game-based learning uses exactly this kind of sliding puzzle to measure planning ability. Success is objective โ€“ the car gets out or it doesn't.
