Beaver Gang

Keep your own face-down cards low โ€“ forget what lies where, and you'll swap yourself into trouble.

How it plays

Everyone has four face-down cards and initially knows only two of them. Players draw and swap in turn: keep low cards, get rid of high ones โ€“ but only those who remember what lies where swap wisely. Action cards allow peeking and nasty switches. Lowest total wins.

What it trains

Beaver Gang is working-memory training in disguise: the positions of your own (and ideally your neighbors') cards must be kept updated in your head all game long โ€“ every swap changes what needs remembering. On top comes continuous estimating of your own running total.

Community voices: Considered one of the best "grows-with-you" card games among parents: playable at 6, still requested at 10. The depth despite simple rules earns praise; the occasional gripe about luck simply comes with the genre.
Our tip for parents: Wonderfully snappy โ€“ a round takes only a few minutes, so a rematch is guaranteed.

Especially good for

  • Families who love short card games
  • Memory training without any classroom feel
  • Works for adult tables too

Less suitable for

  • Kids who can't stand sneaky-swap frustration โ€“ cards get stolen and switched
  • Anyone wanting pure strategy without luck
